Everyone knows Cannes for its film festival, the glitzy world of movie stars and all that comes with them. But with Ouibus you can visit Cannes any time of the year. You’ll find that Cannes is much more than the festival; it’s the very essence of the Côte d’Azur. Brilliant colours are everywhere: clouds of yellow mimosas in bloom, and the sparkling blue of the Mediterranean Sea against the red rocks of the Estérel. Relax on the urban beachfront, play endless games of petanque, with a soundtrack of the waves and the cicadas’ rasping chirrups. From Cannes, you can pay a visit to the Lérins Islands (where the Man in the Iron Mask was held prisoner). Stroll around the picturesque old port where luxury superyachts sit alongside wooden fishing boats. The city is a charming combination of traditions and modern life: wander past the glass facades of the Palais des Festivals and drink in the fantastic colours and smells at the flower market, or meander among the stalls piled high with fruit and vegetables at Forville market. All along the wide boulevard of the Croisette which stretches along the seafront, grand hotels and palaces are a testimony to the history of the city. In the old town, explore the maze of narrow streets and staircases which will lead you up to the Suquet tower, an old watchtower dating from the 11th century, which overlooks the bay. If you’re into diving, you’ll find the bay of Cannes is a fascinating area to explore underwater, too.
